Important: Please read these Terms & Conditions carefully before subscribing. By subscribing to Clankers.today you agree to be bound by these terms in full. If you do not agree, do not subscribe.
1. Definitions
In these Terms & Conditions, the following definitions apply:
- "Clankers.today", "we", "us", "our" refers to the operator of the Clankers.today income protection plan.
- "Member", "you", "your" refers to any individual who has subscribed to the Clankers.today plan.
- "Plan" refers to the Clankers.today income protection subscription plan as described herein.
- "Benefit" refers to the monthly payment of $2,000 USD payable to an approved claimant.
- "Qualifying Event" refers to a termination of employment that meets all eligibility criteria set out in Section 5.
- "AI Displacement" refers to the elimination of a role directly and explicitly caused by the deployment of artificial intelligence, machine learning, automation software, or robotic systems.
- "Waiting Period" refers to the 90-day period from membership start during which no claims may be made.
- "Claims Reserve" refers to the fund maintained by Clankers.today from subscription revenues for the purpose of paying approved benefits.
2. What Clankers.today is — and is not
Clankers.today is a contractual income protection benefit plan. It is not regulated insurance in most jurisdictions. Clankers.today is not an insurance company and these terms do not constitute an insurance contract.
By subscribing, you enter into a contractual agreement whereby Clankers.today undertakes to pay the Benefit upon verification that a Qualifying Event has occurred, subject to all conditions herein.
Clankers.today does not guarantee solvency or payment in all circumstances. In the event of extraordinary claims volumes that would render the plan insolvent, Clankers.today reserves the right to implement proportional benefit reductions across all active claims, provided no less than 30 days written notice is given to affected claimants.
3. Membership and subscription
3.1 Eligibility to subscribe
Membership is open to any individual aged 18 or over who is currently in active employment or active freelance/contractor work at the time of subscription. Clankers.today reserves the right to decline membership applications at its sole discretion.
Membership is personal and non-transferable. One subscription covers one individual only.
3.2 Subscription fee
The current subscription fee is $50.00 USD per month, charged monthly in advance via Stripe. This fee may be revised with 60 days written notice to members.
3.3 Payment obligations
Your subscription must be current and in good standing at the time a Qualifying Event occurs and at the time a claim is submitted. Any lapse in payment that results in subscription cancellation will terminate coverage. Clankers.today will not reinstate coverage for periods during which payment was not received. Claims submitted after a payment lapse — even if the subscription is subsequently reactivated — will not be eligible for events that occurred during the lapsed period.
3.4 Membership start date
Your membership start date is the date on which your first payment is successfully processed by Stripe. This date determines when your 90-day Waiting Period begins.
4. The 90-day waiting period
A mandatory 90-day Waiting Period applies from your membership start date. No claim may be made in respect of any Qualifying Event that occurs during this period, regardless of when the claim is submitted.
The Waiting Period exists to prevent adverse selection — members enrolling after a displacement event has already been announced or communicated. Any attempt to submit a claim for an event that occurred or was communicated during the Waiting Period will result in immediate claim rejection and may result in membership termination without refund.
The Waiting Period restarts in full after each approved claim, calculated from the date on which the final benefit payment for that claim was made.
5. Claim eligibility criteria
ALL of the following criteria must be satisfied for a claim to be eligible. Failure to satisfy any single criterion is sufficient grounds for rejection.
5.1 Active membership
Your subscription must be active, current, and in good standing at both the date of the Qualifying Event and the date of claim submission. A minimum of one full calendar month of paid membership must have elapsed prior to the Qualifying Event.
5.2 Completion of waiting period
The Qualifying Event must have occurred after the expiry of the 90-day Waiting Period as defined in Section 4.
5.3 AI causation — strict requirement
This is the most critical criterion and the one most frequently not met. The elimination of your role must be directly, explicitly, and documentably caused by the deployment or adoption of artificial intelligence, machine learning, automation, or robotic technology.
The following do NOT constitute qualifying AI causation:
- General restructuring, downsizing, or "efficiency improvements" without explicit AI reference
- Budget cuts, financial difficulties, or company closure unrelated to AI adoption
- Role consolidation where AI is not explicitly cited
- Verbal communications only — documentary evidence is mandatory
- References to "technology" or "digital transformation" without specific AI/automation mention
- Roles that could be replaced by AI but have not been explicitly replaced
The following constitute qualifying AI causation when supported by documentary evidence:
- Written termination or severance documentation explicitly referencing AI, machine learning, automation, or specific AI tools
- Company press releases, investor communications, or regulatory filings explicitly citing AI-driven headcount reduction
- Earnings call transcripts where executives explicitly state AI is replacing roles
- Internal written communications (emails, memos) explicitly stating AI is replacing the member's function
5.4 Full termination
The Qualifying Event must constitute complete termination of employment or contract. The following are not qualifying:
- Reduction in hours, pay, or responsibilities
- Transfer to a different role within the same organisation
- Temporary layoff or furlough
- Sabbatical or leave of absence
5.5 Documentary evidence requirement
You must provide at least one primary document that constitutes direct evidence of AI causation. Clankers.today reserves the right to request additional documentation. The burden of proof rests entirely with the claimant. Absence of documentary evidence is automatic grounds for rejection, regardless of the circumstances described.
5.6 Consistency and authenticity
All information provided in the claim must be internally consistent and verifiably accurate. All documents submitted must be authentic originals or authentic copies. Any inconsistency, alteration, or fabrication — even partial — constitutes fraud as defined in Section 9.
5.7 Lifetime claim limit
Members are entitled to a maximum of three (3) approved claims over the lifetime of their membership. Claims beyond this limit will be rejected regardless of merit.
5.8 No prior disclosure
The Qualifying Event must not have been publicly announced, communicated to the claimant, or foreseeably imminent at the time of subscription. Clankers.today reserves the right to reject claims where evidence suggests the member subscribed with prior knowledge of an imminent displacement event.
6. Exclusions
In addition to failure to meet eligibility criteria, the following are explicitly excluded from coverage:
- Voluntary resignation in any form, including constructive dismissal where not pursued through legal process
- Termination for cause, including misconduct, performance failures, disciplinary action, or policy violations
- Redundancy due to business closure, insolvency, or administration where AI is not explicitly cited
- Any event occurring during the Waiting Period
- Any event occurring while subscription is not in good standing
- Events in jurisdictions where Clankers.today has explicitly stated coverage is unavailable
- Members who are directors, sole traders, or self-employed without a specific client contract being terminated on AI grounds
- Events resulting from illegal activity on the part of the claimant
- Events related to strike action or industrial disputes
- Any claim submitted more than 180 days after the Qualifying Event
7. Claims process
7.1 Submission
Claims must be submitted via the online claims portal at clankers.today/claims. Claims submitted by any other method will not be accepted. All required fields must be completed in full. Incomplete submissions will be rejected without review.
7.2 Documentation
All supporting documents must be uploaded at the time of submission. Documents in any language are accepted. Clankers.today may request certified translations of documents not in English at the claimant's expense.
7.3 Review timeline
Clankers.today will use reasonable endeavours to issue a decision within 30 calendar days of receiving a complete claim submission. This timeline is a target, not a guarantee. Complex cases or cases requiring further investigation may take longer.
7.4 Decision authority
All claim decisions are made at the sole and final discretion of Clankers.today. Our AI-assisted review system provides an initial assessment; final approval authority rests with a designated human reviewer. No automated system has binding decision-making authority.
7.5 Verification rights
Clankers.today reserves the right to contact your former employer, clients, or any other relevant third party to verify the circumstances of your claim. By submitting a claim, you expressly consent to such contact.
7.6 Appeals
You may appeal a declined claim within 14 calendar days of the decision by emailing aria@clankers.today with your claim reference and any additional supporting documentation not previously submitted. Each claim may be appealed once only. The appeals decision is final.
7.7 Duplicate claims
Submitting duplicate claims for the same Qualifying Event is prohibited and may result in membership termination.
8. Benefit payment
Upon approval, the Benefit of $2,000 USD per month will be paid for up to a maximum of four (4) consecutive months per approved claim.
Payments are made monthly via bank transfer to the account details provided at claim submission. Clankers.today accepts no liability for delays or failures caused by incorrect bank details provided by the claimant.
Benefit payments are subject to deduction of any applicable withholding taxes as required by law in the claimant's jurisdiction. Clankers.today accepts no responsibility for the tax treatment of benefit payments in your jurisdiction.
Benefits cease immediately upon the claimant returning to employment, obtaining a new contract, or becoming self-employed. The claimant is obligated to notify Clankers.today within 5 business days of returning to work. Failure to do so and continued receipt of benefit payments will constitute fraud.
Benefit payments are contingent on the Claims Reserve maintaining sufficient funds. In extraordinary circumstances, Clankers.today reserves the right to defer or reduce payments as described in Section 2.
9. Fraud and misrepresentation
Clankers.today takes fraud extremely seriously. The following constitute fraud under these terms:
- Providing false, misleading, or fabricated information in a claim or membership application
- Submitting altered, forged, or fabricated documents
- Failing to disclose material information that would affect the outcome of a claim
- Continuing to receive benefit payments after returning to work
- Creating multiple memberships to circumvent the lifetime claim limit
- Submitting a claim with prior knowledge that the Qualifying Event was imminent at the time of subscription
In any case of fraud or misrepresentation, Clankers.today reserves the right to:
- Immediately terminate membership without refund
- Recover all benefit payments made in connection with the fraudulent claim
- Report the matter to relevant law enforcement authorities
- Pursue civil legal action for damages
- Share information with other income protection providers and fraud prevention databases
10. Cancellation
10.1 Cancellation by member
You may cancel your membership at any time via the account dashboard at clankers.today/account or by emailing aria@clankers.today. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing month. No partial refunds are available for unused portions of a billing month.
Upon cancellation, any pending approved claim will continue to be paid for the remaining approved period.
10.2 Cancellation by Clankers.today
Clankers.today reserves the right to terminate membership with 30 days written notice for any reason, or immediately without notice in cases of fraud, misrepresentation, or material breach of these terms. In the event of termination by Clankers.today without cause, a pro-rata refund of the current month's subscription fee will be issued.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Clankers.today's total liability to any member shall not exceed the total subscription fees paid by that member in the 12 months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim for liability.
Clankers.today is not liable for any indirect, consequential, special, or incidental damages arising from membership or use of the plan, including but not limited to loss of income beyond the Benefit, loss of opportunity, or distress.
Clankers.today makes no representation or warranty that the plan will be available indefinitely, that claims will be approved, or that the financial model is guaranteed to remain viable under all market conditions.
12. Data and privacy
By subscribing and submitting claims, you consent to Clankers.today processing your personal data — including employment information, financial data, and identity documents — for the purposes of administering your membership and evaluating claims.
Claim documents and personal data are processed using AI systems including third-party AI services. By submitting a claim you consent to your data being processed by these systems.
Clankers.today will not sell your personal data to third parties. Data will be retained for a minimum of 7 years after membership termination for legal and compliance purposes.
Full details of data processing are set out in our Privacy Policy at clankers.today/privacy.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of Switzerland. Any disputes arising from membership or these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Switzerland, unless mandatory consumer protection laws in your jurisdiction provide otherwise.
Before initiating any legal proceedings, members agree to attempt to resolve disputes informally by contacting aria@clankers.today and allowing 30 days for resolution.
14. Changes to these terms
Clankers.today may update these Terms & Conditions at any time. Material changes will be communicated to members by email with at least 30 days notice. Continued subscription after the notice period constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. If you do not accept revised terms, you may cancel your membership before the changes take effect.
